Many factors go in to our admittedly SUBJECTIVE rating on the Eating Hanoi! YUM METER.

Of course, food quality, authenticity and taste are our primary focus.  But, there’s more.  We want an eating adventure!  We want a “Vietnamese” experience! We want to eat like the locals, and eat with the locals. Please, no tourist food, no tourist amenities, no “fusion” recipes. We want the real thing.

* Short plastic or metal stools are our seats of choice.

* Finding food served by the same old woman for the past 40 years is our fantasy .

* Eateries filled with only Vietnamese faces score highest in our rankings

* We remember that chicken have feet, ducks have heads, and fish have faces !

* Strange flavors, new herbs, and never-before-heard-of food items score highly.

* Food quality, authenticity  and taste trumps ambiance every time!
